Meet Our Team
Our team is dedicated to providing evidence-based interventions to help you and your family. We specialize in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) and are here to support you every step of the way. Thank you for choosing us as your trusted mental health providers.
Meet Elly
It is often difficult to explain exactly what therapy is and to best describe a therapist's approach. I like to think of therapy as looking at what has scraped you up emotionally, cleaning out that wound, and then healing so you can live a healthier and happier life.
As to my approach, clients, parents, and colleagues have described me as
honest, kind, compassionate, nonjudgmental, interpersonal, solution focused, collaborative, and someone who will call you on your crap. One colleague said, "You don't get paid to care. You care because it's who you are. That is your gift to your families."
I work with all ages and types of problems, except teens and couples. I'm most
passionate about Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) and working with women, people who experience depression, and those who have a history of abuse/neglect/domestic violence/placement in foster care.

I was excited to introduce PCIT to South Dakota back in 2018 as I was the first and only PCIT International Certified Therapist in South Dakota. I have since hired six therapists who are also PCIT International Certified Therapists, with us now being able to offer the gold standard of intervention for children ages 2 to 7 with behavioral issues throughout the entire state. I have also completed my training in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy with Toddlers (PCIT-T), making me one of two therapists to provide this therapy in the entire State of South Dakota as well!

In order for therapy to be successful you need to be able to connect with your therapist and trust them. If you feel like I might be the right fit you please contact me.
Meet Kirsten
While completing my fellowship training in Child Abuse Pediatrics at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, I was exposed to PCIT as a treatment for children and families who experienced trauma. As a new parent myself at the time, I was deeply impacted not only by the remarkable success my patients and families experienced
throughout their therapy course, but how transforming the skills were in my own household. I spent the next decade in my Child Abuse Pediatrics practice and in 2022 while an attending physician at Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, I completed PCIT Therapist Training.

I have worked extensively with young children who have experienced trauma, youth with disruptive internalizing and externalizing behaviors, and caregivers who have been desperate for behavior management help. It is deeply gratifying to restructure my career from referring out families and youth, to providing these services directly.
Meet Jen

I specialize in providing evidence-based mental health services to children, adolescents, adults, and
families. I have experience in treating a wide range of mental health concerns, including anxiety,
depression, ADHD, adjustment concerns, traumatic stress, and obsessive-compulsive disorder. I work
collaboratively with patients and their families to formulate treatment plans that are goal-focused and
time-limited, with the overarching aim of providing skills that can continue to be utilized upon
graduation from therapy.
I became certified in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) in 2023. Through my work utilizing PCIT, I
have enjoyed being able to provide in the moment coaching to caregivers as they navigate various
behaviors. I also enjoy watching caregivers’ confidence in their coaching grow and the deepening of
caregiver-child relationships throughout the course of treatment.
In addition to PCIT, I provide several other evidence based therapies, including:
Meet Rachael
Trusting someone with your areas of growth can be a vulnerable but rewarding experience when you find the right therapist to jive with. My approach to working with clients is hands on starting with getting to know the ideal you, your barriers and then digging into ideas for helping you become the person, family and partner you desire to be.
I enjoy working with Individuals, couples and children. My desire to help includes parent coaching and support with those learning to balance life with ADHD. I completed a certification course on ADHD in 2020 and this is an area of passion for myself as I continue to follow leaders in the field and their research.
I am working to complete my certification in play therapy and use this as an approach when working with children/youth and even at times adults with a history of trauma. I am also trained in Level One and Two of EMDR which is a unique tool for working with trauma along with anxiety and moving beyond areas we find ourselves stuck in at times. We may not be able to change the past but together we can work towards a better future.
Meet Karissa
I am a licensed psychologist in South Dakota with a background in school psychology and in an outpatient clinical setting heavily rooted in autism evaluations, diagnostic evaluations and psychotherapy related to anxiety, ADHD, and/or other social/emotional/behavioral concerns. These experiences often involved working with parents and their child to promote their child's skill development and success across environments and settings. My initial experience and interest in parent-child interaction therapy stemmed from the increasing need of parents seeking resources and guidelines to better support their young children with different behavioral, emotional, and/or mental health needs. Fast forward two years and parent-child interaction therapy has become one of my preferred treatment approaches as family success is apparent each session. I absolutely love watching and hearing parents increasingly praise their child's behavior and comment on their own confidence in managing their children's behaviors. I experience so much joy seeing children beam as they hear their parents call attention to their positive behaviors. The apparent benefit and research behind PCIT on children's behaviors in home and schools makes PCIT an easy approach to use to build and refine parent skills to further increase their self-efficacy in managing problem behaviors and increasing their child's prosocial behaviors across situations.
Meet Jaime
Tired of struggling in the parenting department? Sick of feeling like you’re all alone and don’t know what to do? Are you struggling with your child/ren and not enjoying some of your parenting interactions (or all of them)? PCIT is the answer. I echo Audra’s words that I wish I had known about PCIT when my children were young. My background is in early childhood development and I had lots of knowledge and experience before being a mom, but PCIT has opened my eyes to a positive way of parenting that empowers parents to be the parents they want to be and teaches children limits, self-regulation, sharing, and other prosocial skills they need to be successful in their relationships with others.
I am a Marriage and Family Therapist in South Dakota, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. I specialize in PCIT for parents and children. I have personal and professional experience with foster care and adoption and hold the Permanency and Adoption Competency Certification (PACC). I also work with couples focusing on adult attachment and betrayal trauma/infidelity. My individual specialty is trauma, anxiety, and depression. I am trained in EMDR, Brainspotting, and IFOT (Indigenous Focusing-Oriented Therapy) which are all trauma therapies.
I will be providing PCIT via the internet. If you are ready to change the way you parent with the help of a professional (and mom) who knows how hard this parenting thing can be, let’s get started. Let’s work together to change those negative behaviors, to help you enjoy parenting in a more fulfilling way. Let’s help you to help your child.
Meet Ashley
I’m excited to join Clear Minded Counseling offering internet-based PCIT. I have been practicing PCIT since 2016 and have had the privilege of walking alongside families during PCIT and training other mental health professionals to become PCIT therapists. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor - Supervisor in Texas, a Registered Play Therapist, and certified in Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT). It is a great honor to be invited by families to walk beside them, offering support and expertise, during their time of need. PCIT gives caregivers and children the skills they need to strengthen their relationship while giving parents a blueprint for consistent, safe, and effective discipline.

I’m looking forward to meeting you and your family to share PCIT's benefits.
